Introduction
For over 20 years, Herbots Heller has been a respected name in the global world of racing pigeon breeding and sales. What began as a family business has expanded significantly over the years.
Their outdated website didn’t provide the modern, user-friendly experience needed- it lacked structure and clarity. So, we gave the website a fresh update to tell their story more powerfully.

Challenges
We faced a few challenges, starting by rethinking their brand identity, ensuring it aligned seamlessly with their existing logo. With the brand identity settled, we focused on organizing their website, which had a lot of information to manage. Lastly, we addressed their current webshop, which needed to be clearer, more user-friendly, and accessible.

Design
We began by building a modern and fresh brand identity around their existing logo. The new identity reflects a calm, clear, and user-friendly design. The color palette is slightly changed to give it a more contemporary and clean look. We used soft blue and grey shades. The updated identity is dynamic and professional with light gradients and soft shadows.
Development
Herbots sought a solution that balanced ease of content management with the complexity of live pigeon auctions and their webshop. Using StoryBlok CMS, their website allows easy content management and updates. The real-time pigeon auctions are powered by an enhanced websocket integration in the custom backend, ensuring smooth functionality.
The webshop, integrated with the auction system, offers a seamless shopping experience. Built with Next.js, the frontend efficiently connects multiple data sources via APIs, creating a responsive and cohesive platform. The result is a powerful combination of content management, live auctions, and a webshop, offering a smooth and engaging user experience.

The result: a clear and user-friendly website, wrapped in an clean design. By enhancing the layout and improving usability, we made the shopping experience much smoother for visitors. The new design brings a unified brand identity and a more intuitive experience across the entire site.
